# **Scopa**

Scopa is Italy's favourite card game: take cards from the table by value or sum, sweep it clean for a scopa and grab the seven of coins.

## **How do you want to play?**

Play alone against one to three opponents or as two teams of two. Bots fill the free seats.

## **How to play**

Scopa is Italy's classic: play a card to take cards from the table, sweep it clean and collect coins and sevens.

1. **1**### **The cards**

   **40 cards: ace to 7, jack, queen and king.**

   The ace is worth 1, the number cards their value, jack 8, queen 9, king 10. Diamonds are the coins.
2. **2**### **The deal**

   **Three cards each, four face up on the table.**

   When everyone has played their three cards, three new ones are dealt. (Three kings on the table at the start: the cards are dealt again.)
3. **3**### **Take a match**

   **A card takes a table card of the same value.**

   If there is a card of the same value, you have to take it rather than a sum.
4. **4**### **Take a sum**

   **Or several table cards that add up to its value.**

   A 7 takes a 3 and a 4. If there are several ways, you choose.
5. **5**### **Taking is a must**

   **If your card can take something, it has to.**

   Only a card that can't take anything stays on the table.
6. **6**### **Scopa**

   **Sweep the table clean: 1 point.**

   Every sweep is a scopa. (Not with the very last card of the hand.)
7. **7**### **End of the hand**

   **The rest of the table goes to whoever took last.**

   Then the points are counted.
8. **8**### **The points**

   **Most cards, most coins and the 7 of coins: 1 point each.**

   On a tie nobody gets that point. Every scopa is a point too. First to 11 while in the lead wins.
9. **9**### **Primiera**

   **The best card of every suit added up: 1 point.**

   7 = 21, 6 = 18, ace = 16, 5 = 15, 4 = 14, 3 = 13, 2 = 12, face cards = 10. You need all four suits.
