Which variant do you want to play?

Nine men's morris is the classic. Twelve men's morris has more stones and diagonal lines. You can switch in the lobby at any time.

Flying

With only three stones left a player may jump to any free point. That makes the end of the game exciting.

How Mühle works

Three phases, one goal: close mills and take your opponent's stones.

  1. 1

    Place

White starts. You take turns placing your stones on the free points of the board.

  2. 2

    Close a mill

Three of your stones on one line are a mill: you remove an opponent stone that isn't part of a mill.

  3. 3

    Move

Once all stones are placed, you move one stone per turn along a line to a free neighbouring point.

  4. 4

    Fly

Down to 3 stones? Then you may jump to any free point. That gives you one last chance.

  5. Ready?

Nine men's morris against the bot is the best way to start.

You lose with only two stones left or when you can't move any more. The third repetition of a position and 50 moves without a mill are a draw.

Three tips to get started

Build a double mill

A stone that moves between two mills closes a mill with every move. Hard to stop.

Stay mobile

In the placing phase think of the moving phase: blocked stones are worth little.

Don't rush

An early mill is nice, but good positions on the crossings of the middle square are worth more.
