Let's play
Durak is played with 2 to 6 players. Invite friends with a link or fill empty seats with bots.
Nobody wins, one loses
Durak is all about getting rid of your cards. The first one without cards takes 1st place. Whoever is the last to hold cards is the Durak, the fool.
Full rulesHow a round works
Attack, defend, draw: that's all you need to join in.
- Trump ♥LoadingLoading1
Cards & trump
The game uses 36 cards from 6 to ace. Everyone gets 6 cards, the bottom card of the deck lies face up and sets the trump suit.
- Loading2
Attack
The attacker plays any card in front of the player who has to defend.
- LoadingLoading3
Defend
The defender beats the card with a higher card of the same suit.
- Trump ♥LoadingLoading4
Trump beats all
A trump beats any card of another suit, even an ace. Only a higher trump beats a trump.
- LoadingLoading5
Throw in
Cards with a rank that is already on the table can be thrown in, like an 8 to an 8. The defender has to beat them as well.
- LoadingLoadingLoading6
Take
If the defender can't or won't beat a card, they take all cards from the table into their hand.
- LoadingLoadingLoading7
Draw
If everything was beaten, the cards leave the game and the defender attacks next. Then everyone draws back up to 6 cards.

The Durak
Once the deck is empty, nobody draws anymore. Whoever runs out of cards is done. The last one with cards in hand is the Durak.
The rules in detail
This is how Durak is played here, so there's no arguing at the table.
- How many cards?
- The first attack of the game allows at most 5 cards, every later one at most 6. There are never more attacking cards than the defender holds.
- Who may attack?
- The attacker and the player after the defender may play and throw in cards. With two players only your opponent attacks.
- After taking
- Whoever took the cards loses their attack: the player after them attacks next.
- Drawing order
- The attacker draws first, then the other players in turn and the defender last. The face-up trump card is drawn as the very last card.
- Out of cards
- Whoever has no cards left once the deck is empty is out and gets the next free place. The first one done takes 1st place.
- New starting hand
- If you have no trump and at least 5 cards of one suit, you may reject your starting cards. Then the cards are dealt again.
Card Ranking
From 6 to ace: within a suit the higher card beats the lower one.
Trump beats everything (except higher Trump).
Tips for your first rounds
Save your trumps
Trumps are your strongest cards. Keep them for attacks you couldn't beat otherwise.
Low cards first
Attack with low cards and get rid of them early. You'll need the high ones for defending later.
Remember what's gone
If you keep track of which trumps and aces were played, you know when an attack is safe.
